HIV today – 01.12.2012Jeni Hirst, from BHA Skyline will be giving a short talk and leading a discussion about how things have changed over years in terms of diagnosis, treatments, stigma, attitudes, the national and local picture regarding HIV and what are likely to be the future challenges. The talk will between 4.30 -– 5.30 in the West Room in the Civic Hall. WAD Service – 26.12.2011At the CHAPEL FOR JUSTICE, PEACE AND THE INTEGRITY OF CREATION by Rev'd Sheila Swarbrick. A chance for reflection, hymns, readings and prayer A display by The Eddystone Trust will run from mid-November for a month. The WAD for 2011-2015 is drawn from the new UNAIDS Strategy “Getting to Zero," which focuses on zero new infections, zero discrimination and zero aids-related deaths. This liturgy, prepared by Ecumenical partners in Germany, focuses on the concept of “Zero Discrimination."

RENT – 13.12.2011The University of Manchester Musical Theatre Society perform RENT as their winter musical on 13th, 14th and 15th December. The show deals with HIV suffers and living and dealing with with loss. A donation of the ticket sales is going to NAT.

Acoustic Night – 10.12.2011The Acoustic Station event is supporting World AIDS Day by fundraising through collections for Positive East. Positive East are a leading community based HIV organisation, supporting some of the individuals most at risk of HIV transmission in the country. The live acoustic bands will be playing an elective mix of 60's to the present day music, including original new material. Bands include; The Acoustic Cavemen, Waterfield and Ade Jackson, with more bands to be confirmed.

MK health fayre – 09.12.2011STaSS and other agencies are having an open office at the STaSS office. Local MP Mark Lancaster and Ian Steward are coming to have quick test for HIV. The public are welcomed into STaSS to learn about HIV and services that are available in Milton Keynes. Also there will be HIV quick test, Chlamydia testing, blood pressure checking from NHS nurses. Film Screening – 06.12.2011To mark World AIDS Day 2011 Starfish Greathearts Foundation, a charity that improves the lives of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in South Africa, will be hosting a film screening of the award winning film “Life, Above All" directed by Oliver Schmitz, on Tuesday 6th December at the South African High Commission, Trafalgar Square. The event, sponsored by Barclays and Peccadillo Films, will be the 5th year that Starfish has raised awareness and support of the World AIDS Day campaign in London.

Broad Gallery – 06.12.2011The National AIDS Trust (NAT) is hosting a fundraising night at the Broad Gallery. The event will include champagne and canapés, a blind auction and a raffle with some fabulous prizes - including an original Salvador Dali woodblock engraving. Guests will also have the opportunity to view (and purchase!) a selection of the Gallery's collection, from some of the most celebrated artists of the modern era, with a percentage going to NAT. Cause of AIDS – 05.12.2011AIDS Denial is a real problem, and one that has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Professor Sir Andrew McMichael of Oxford University, knighted for services to medical sciences, will be explaining how we know that HIV is the cause of AIDS. Church Service – 04.12.2011A service for World AIDS Day. Every minute the Church will get a little darker as candles are extinguished to remind us of the six people a minute who die because of HIV. We, as Christ's body, we connect to the tragedy of this killing disease. We will also affirm our hope that good is stronger than evil as we celebrate the transforming practical care offered through Christian Aid and light candles.

The Optimist – 01.12.2011On World AIDS Day, an art exhibition opens with a collection of thirty international artists to benefit Positive East. Each piece of art will be displayed with the story about the artists' inspiration behind their work. An exhibition catalogue is available as well as limited edition prints. Artists include; Zoobs, Copyright, Guy Denning, Gemma Compton, RYCA and many more. The exhibition runs until 6 December and aims to raise awareness around a variety of HIV issues.

APTA launch – 01.12.2011Awareness and Prevention Through Art is a small volunteer, run grass roots charity, working in Mozambique. Join us as we light 72 candles over two hours, kneeling before God in prayer, praising Him in song, and standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters across the globe.
