WORLD AIDS DAY 2007 THEME IS 'UNDERSTANDING THROUGH COMMUNICATION'
The National AIDS Trust is pleased to announce the UK theme for World AIDS Day 2007 is UNDERSTANDING THROUGH COMMUNICATION. The intention of the theme is to highlight the importance of using open communication to break down the silence around HIV, and to get people talking about HIV in order to increase their own understanding and the knowledge of those around them.
The theme ties in with this year's UNAIDS theme for World AIDS Day: "Unite Against AIDS: Leadership" as it inspires us all to take the lead in breaking down the ignorance and fear around HIV through communication. This year's theme also builds on the "you me us" theme used in 2006 as it is a call to action for us all to work together, encouraging everyone to use open communication to help stop the spread of HIV and to prevent stigma and discrimination.
The strapline, which will appear across all our materials, is:
HIV: LET'S GET TALKING
A series of attention-grabbing facts and questions about HIV will be used in the execution of the theme to stimulate people's interest in HIV and to inspire people to get involved. The theme will also be fully incorporated into the design of the World AIDS Day website, www.worldaidsday.org, to be launched in September. The website will include video and audio clips of people affected by HIV talking about their experiences. There will also be opportunities for people to add their own content and to share details of events being held all across the UK.
Awareness-raising materials featuring the World AIDS Day theme and design will be available to purchase from the National AIDS Trust shop: http://shop.nat.org.uk/
